DESCRIPTION:
Top Mfg Company in Southern, US searching for degreed Mfg CNC Machining
Engineer

Position Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Salary: $50-$72k
Location: Southern, Alabama and also Mississippi

Our clients are searching for top talent to add to their teams. These

High volume machining
Experience with CAD/CAM systems helpful.

BASIC FUNCTION
Responsible for capital planning, capacity planning, and the execution of
projects related to engine assembly and engine component manufacturing.
Implements manufacturing processes and technologies that will keep the
Engine
Division ahead of its competition. Performs assignments that require a
high
degree of technical skill in the areas of problem solving, statistical
analysis, and project organization.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Manage capital projects and maintain a project status re****t to ensure
timely and accurate administration of the capital plan.
2. Determines technical feasibility of projects and provides input to
maintain
the Division's capital plan. Prepare capital expenditures to achieve the
plan.
3. Develop and recommend capacity plans consistent with the Division's
Strategic Plan.
4. Provide direction and assistance in vendor selection, equipment
specification, quotation, reviews, negotiation and contract preparation.
5. Manage manufacturing engineering activities for new product development
and
introduction to assure schedules are met and proper equipment and tooling
is
available.
6. Keep current on all manufacturing processes in the Division in the
areas of
quality level, material flow, capacity and cost.

7. Research new manufacturing processes by the use of technical papers,
trade
magazines, trade shows, competitive intelligence and vendor visits.

8. Coordinate the planning and development of processes and equipment that
incor****ate the most advanced, proven levels of material handling, gaging
and
metal removal techniques. Emphasize lean manufacturing, SPC and other
state-of-the-art methodologies.

9. Identify and implement cost reductions.

10. Execute divisional procedures for capital procurement, new equipment
maintenance programs, warranty follow up and post audits.

11. Provides technical guidance to less experienced engineers.

12. Develop and analyze process FEMA's and control plans as necessary for
new
and existing processes.

13. Perform capability studies as necessary for new and existing
processes.

14. Perform gage R & R's as necessary for new and existing gaging.

RELATION****PS AND CONTACTS
Supervisory Relation****ps:
1. Operations Manager
Organization Relation****ps:
1. Daily contact with Production Supervision to coordinate efforts for
maintaining and improving the existing production processes.
2. Frequent contacts with Design Engineering to review production drawings
and
design improvement.
3. Frequent contact with Quality Department Supervision to review quality
standards and to make suggestions for improvement.
4. Frequent contact with Maintenance Supervision to review maintenance
problems
and make suggestions.
5. Occasional contact with Plant Engineering on equipment design and
installation.
6. Moderate contact with the following departments for assistance in
carrying
out assigned responsibilities: Cost, Planning, Purchasing, and other
Industrial
Engineering Departments.
External Business Relation****ps:
1. Frequent contact with machine tool builders and other equipment
suppliers to
discuss projects and negotiate contacts.
2. Occasional contact with suppliers to verify their manufacturing process
produces raw material and finished components compatible with the
Division's
processes and equipment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.
MUST BE ABET ACCREDITED

At least 5 years experience in lean manufacturing, setup reduction, metal
removal, capital procurement, automation, statistical process control,
project
management, and CNC programming.

MANDATORY EDUCATION: Bachelor of Science
