Software Engineer (Java)
Seeks a well-qualified Software Engineer with well developed and well
rounded Java programming skills. The candidate will be responsible for
maintaining, enhancing and development of our Java Graphical User
Interface (JGUI). The JGUI interfaces to our Real-Time Linux
Simulation and Data Acquisition Systems that are fielded around the
world. The candidate will also be responsible for the network
interface applications between the JGUI and the RTLinux platform.
BS or MS in Computer Systems/Software Engineering or similar
4 yrs Java experience. Much have a mastery of Java with extensive
knowledge of performance-tuning, profiling and object-oriented design
patterns.
3 yrs experience with Swing, the GUI API. Knowledge of JTables and
JTrees are a must.
Must have experience with the following: - j2se (1.4, 1.5, and 1.6) -
strong user interface development skills - 2D API for image creation,
manipulation, drawing graphics (lines, polys, text) - XML (experience
preferred with SAX for reading/writing) - Threads and timers: must
know the pros and cons of each and know how to use them - Network
programming: knowledge of tcp and udp in java - In-depth knowledge of
Strings in Java (know the performance impacts of their usage)
Beneficial experience/knowledge: - GlgToolkit (by Generic Logic)
knowledge and usage (is used for the widgets) - JDBC - Debian GNU/
Linux - FSMLabs Real-Time Linux OS - HTML - Java Beans - AJAX - MySQL
- SlickEdit and usage - A strong background is required in C
programming, *nix shell programming, RCS, office/desktop
applications.
