Software Engineer - Java
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Understands Software Engineering, Software Engineering
Methodologies, and the impact of early decisions on later development
stages of software projects. 2. Actively believes in and practices
software engineering activities even when the near term costs are
highly visible and the long term benefits are difficult to measure. 3.
Develops software across a variety of platforms, undertaking design,
development, do***entation, testing and subsequent ongoing sup****t of
new and existing features. Software is to be developed to appropriate
quality standards, to a written project plan that is reviewed and
approved before starting, and then delivered to the plan 4. Assists in
the translation of business requirements into design and/or vendor
selection while adhering to our solution architecture 5. Suggests
modifications to processes and writes specifications. 6. Adheres to
agreed engineering standards, processes and programs 7. Actively
participates in peer review of designs and implementations across
teams and (potentially) external suppliers. 8. Works flexibly across
the engineering teams, environments and technologies as required
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor of Science in related engineering or computer
science discipline or equivalent experience OR a masters degree.
Experience: 2+ years of experience (multiple positions at multiple
skill levels); usage of data modeling tools, design patterns, UML and
OO design methodologies. Experience of web systems and components; web
servers, application servers, databases, transactional systems,
content management systems, operating systems, Java, J2EE, JMS, WML,
HTML, JSP, XML, SOAP.
Knowledge: Solid knowledge of software engineering concepts and
procedures. Proven knowledge of Internet communication protocols
Skills: Undertakes detailed design and development work; excellent
communication and organization skills; strong problem solving skills
