SOFTWARE ENGINEER
Description of Duties: The Software Engineer is responsible for
designing, developing, & testing software, & creating associated
do***entation for new medical products. This position works with a
minimum of supervision. Specific tasks include: * Software design &
development according to specifications. * Testing/troubleshooting of
software in the system to differentiate hardware & software problems.
* Verification & validation. * Generation of do***entation. * Writing
software and/or system requirement specifications. * Writing software
and/or system design specifications.
Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer
Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a technical equivalent. * 3 -
7 years experience in embedded software design & development. * Prior
experience in developing medical devices is a plus. * Experience in C/C
++ for embedded systems running with or without an RTOS on various
microprocessors, including assembly firmware in an embedded
environment. * Experience in both object oriented design & development
as well as procedural development. * Must possess basic knowledge of
electronic hardware & software design relating to real-time embedded
systems. * Experience using software design patterns. * Experience
with test driven development (TDD). * Experience with unit testing
frameworks such as CppUnit. * Experience with UML is desirable. *
Demonstrated understanding of the full life cycle of software
development. * Knowledge of appropriate standards such as FDA QSR &
the IEC 601 series of standards is necessary. * Excellent verbal &
written communication skills are required. * Ability to interface with
people of differing origins, cultures & orientations * Light physical
effort - lifting or moving up to 40 pounds
