Purpose of Role: To collaborate with ID and marketing in order to champion
new product development, provide value added enhancements to the end user,
and facilitate sustaining engineering for child car seats. The selected
candidate will take designs from concept through to manufacturing
utilizing a robust process that includes specific milestones to ensure
ongoing communication and commitment of the division and to achieve
business objectives for growth and Operating Income. * Engineering team
member of a strategic product group, providing engineering sup****t,
sustaining engineering and advising on future product developments. *
Develop innovative new products that meet the customer demands, quality
and financial requirements. This will require a good understanding of
engineering principles including strength of materials, statistical
analysis, and structural design and manufacturing methods. * Originate new
ideas to improve performance and cost. This will include technological
advancements and innovative thinking. The ability to review product
viability in terms of manufacturability, unit cost and capital cost
requirements. * Project management, ensuring new products are delivered on
time, to cost, design, and quality specifications. * Search relevant
regional patent databases and advise on potential IP issues / patent
protection of new ideas. * Oversee product testing and review test
requirements. * Collaborate with Manufacturing to qualify and select new
vendors, and develop plans and tooling for sourced and manufactured
products. * Qualify first articles for production. * Oversee / generate
comprehensive Engineering Product Specifications, Quality and Audit Plans
and Engineering drawings. * Develop concepts into working prototypes for
testing. * Deliver 3D and 2D engineering data to ensure products are
executed correctly to the design intent. * Ensure correct, efficient file
transfer’s between all 3D file users. * File and archive finished 3D
models in recognized formats and locations. * Disseminate knowledge of best
practices within the department and to client groups in the computer
modeling, mold and manufacturing process.
Qualifications * Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related field * 3-6
years of experience designing in a regulated or compliant industry,
juvenile car seat design experience is a plus. * System Engineering with
Injection molded part design experience is a plus * Plastics experience is
required * Computer and CAD literate (2D & 3D) with Pro/Engineer
Wildfire or Solidworks. * Advanced Pro/E Surfacing, FEA and mechanism
skills are desirable. Personal skills: Communication: Demonstrated
ability to communicate at all levels internally and externally. Ability to
drive collaboration and build relation****ps throughout the organization
