Sr. SW Engineer- Sustaining
* Designs, implements, modifies, tests, and do***ents software.
* Produces well-do***ented and very clear code with extremely few
defects that has logging and tracing capability and is unit tested.
Refactoring is rare due to good design practices. Participates in
overall system level testing effort.
* Excellent working knowledge of software lifecycle with experience in
multiple methodologies.
* Understands architecture as implemented and is able to propose
architectural extensions and perform refactoring tasks. Understands
interfaces and data flow, architectural bottlenecks, and performance
limitations.
* Applies intensive and diversified knowledge of software engineering
principles and practices in broad areas of assignements and related
fields.
* Understands engineering principles adn techniques related to area
project activities. Demonstrated expertise in at least one area of
field of specialty with working knowledge of major system components
and their interactions.
* Very solid 00 capability with the ability to coach others in 00 tools
and methods- own code exhibits excellent 00 qualities. Understands
various database architectures and interfaces and is able to design
robust databases and their communications structures. Can provide
design alternatives and prototypes of GUI with experience in various
RAD and GUI tools and methodologies.
* Shows innovation and creativity in solving problems, draws upon
different sources for ideas and solutions.
* Typically re****ts to a team lead or manager.
* Independently designs and implements solutions to complex problems
with a minimum of supervision where decisions or actions directly
impact project activities.
* Demonstrates levels of autonomy and capability to define own short
terms deliverables based on longer erm objectives. Responsible for
scheduling own time and quality completion of multiple tasks within a
varying environment with changing constraints and increasing levels of
ambiguity in direction given.
* Shows developing initiative to take on large tasks and complete them
on schedule. Good at communicating schedule changes and impact to
management.
* Regular interaction with peers and supervisor regarding assigned
project tasks.
* Completes weekly status re****ts. Initiates communications to manager
to provide status and seek guidance for issues encountered.
* Occassional interactions with other design groups regarding project
level issues. Regular communication regarding assignments, scheduling
and design issuesand problems.
* Acts a resource within the group and seeks and gives technical
assistance across project boundaries. Proactively helps others in the
organization.
* Understands direction and sets a good example of work ethic and

management intervention.
Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science.
Graduate degree if desirable.
* A minimum of 8 years related experience with a variety of software
technologies and tools, to include solid C++ skills, and at least
mid-level skills in C#, SQL and XML.
* Interest in all aspects of software life-cycle, including deployment
and maintenance.
* Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and debug/ trace problems in
complex application code.
* Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with different parts
of the organization.
* Ability to multi-task, demonstarte initiative and persistence in
following-up on issue resolution.
