Biochemical Scientist II

Seeking an experienced Biochemical Scientist II/III to aid in assay
development and ligand design. This is an interdepartmental role
bridging Chromatography Product Development and the Biomolecular
Laboratory. The individual who assumes this hands-on laboratory
position will contribute to ligand development and will be responsible
for the development of ELISA assays and assays for protein-protein
interactions, all in sup****t of chromatography product development. The
individual will also be expected to perform routine assay work and
contribute to assay development in the Biomolecular Laboratory in
sup****t of R&D. The Biomolecular Laboratory, part of the Analytical
Chemistry and Biochemistry group in Bioprocess R&D, performs both
routine and non-routine analyses of biomolecules, and serves as a
resource for questions about the biomolecules in Bioprocess
feedstreams.

The ideal candidate will work well in an interactive team environment,
and yet be able to work independently, using past experience and
current scientific literature to contribute to chromatography product
development and to increase the capabilities of the Biomolecular
Laboratory. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are
essential for re****t writing, verbal communication with other members
of R&D, and presentation of data to small and large groups. The
flexibility to work in a matrix organization is critical.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have a master's degree and
3-5 years' experience or a Ph.D. and 0-3 years' experience.
Experience with ELISA assays, characterization of protein-protein
interactions, and standard molecular biology and E. coli cell culture
techniques is required. Additional experience in HPLC, light
scattering, fluorescence spectroscopy, and protein and nucleic acid
electrophoresis is preferred.
