Database Administrator

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide technical mentoring where appropriate to other co-workers.
2. Responsible for the design, development, and management of large
complex databases that are located on multiple servers in a diverse
hardware environment across geographically separate data centers
Responsible for the structural integrity of large-scale database
management systems used throughout the health system. 3. Responsible
for the development and implementation of preventative maintenance
routines to ensure end-user availability and performance of database
files and their related management systems. 4. Responsible for the
procedures, do***entation and monitoring of all database backups and
restores. Provide recommendation for database retention efforts. 5. In
conjunction with the Security team, is responsible to ensure proper
security of all databases and their respective database management
systems that are managed by the ISD. 6. Responsible for the technical
sup****t of mission-critical databases running on Cache*, SQL Server
and/or other database management systems used in the health system.
Will be responsible for high level of sup****t and escalated calls. 7.
Responsible for the structural design and implementation of in-house
database files and related systems. 8. Act as technical consultant to
vendors and the company Health System for complex database-related
issues, systems, and implementation projects. 9. Working with the Lead
DBA, provide recommendations for capital requests and provide input
for future budget activities. 10. Assist with the project management
of the implementation of database management systems. These
responsibilities include working with customers to define scope and
requirements, database design work described above, preparation of
project plans, project presentations, assigning tasks and sub-tasks
and providing appropriate project re****ting. 11. Responsible for the
development of do***entation to perform tasks listed above. 12.
Provide assistance where required to provide information on database
management system licensing. 13. Assist managing the host system as
requested by management or Lead DBA.

Job Requirements: QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

1. Bachelor*s Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems (or
equivalent experience). 2. Three years experience in designing,
maintaining, and administering large Cache* databases. 3. Cache*
Administration in a production environment sup****ting Epic. 4. Five
years experience with a progressive level of responsibility in
database administration strategies utilizing UNIX and/or Microsoft
technologies. 5. Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
6. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, complex assignments
concurrently. 7. Knowledge of computer operations, electronic mail and
general office automation tools. 8. Experience with systems and
network monitoring technologies and tools. 9. Ability to travel as
required helping maintain geographically separated systems. 10. Must
be willing to work outside of the normal 8-hour 5-day workweek as
required. Co-worker will be on-call 24 hours a day as part of the
problem escalation team.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Epic Systems Engineer. 2. Epic certification. 3. Cache*
certification. 4. Five years experience in designing, maintaining, and
administering large Cache* databases. 5. Project management
experience. 6. Five years experience in a large healthcare system. 7.
Diversified knowledge of multiple database technologies.
