Database Administrator
As a Database Administrator, you will be responsible for basic DBA run
the engine tasks, complex software installations, upgrades and license
verifications, fault detection, escalation and repair, assisting
developers with code roll-out and operational troubleshooting,
performance metrics collection & analysis, and actions related to the
analysis, planning complex upgrades, tech refreshes, migrations, and/
or consolidations across the environment, defining op****tunities to
increase operational efficiency and acting on those op****tunities, and
overall system availability. Coordinates the activities of several
members of the technical staff to solve complex problems. Compliance
with all company security policies and procedures. Interact with
development groups as well as business users. Strong Oracle 9i skills
with experience in installation and configuration; understanding of
database fragmentation and how to remediate; knowledgeable of SQL
tuning&PL/SQL, backup&recovery techniques, database security; strong
UNIX skills with scripting experience (korn, perl), and good
communications skills; Experience with large/complex database
environments. Position requires rotating on call coverage for 7 X 24
operation, and after hours work for maintenance tasks and break fixes.
Must be able to clearly communicate on the telephone. Occasional
overnight travel (1-5 days) may be required for training and disaster
recovery exercises.
Qualifications:
* Minimum 6 years of work experience as an Oracle Database
Administrator * Solid skills in database performance factors,
monitoring tools and tuning procedures * Strong Database Management
skills, including RMAN backup and recovery procedures * Solid skills
in productivity factors and ability to understand impact of problem on
overall database performance * Knowledge of fault detection and
resolution processes * Strong skills in maintenance tools and
procedures * Experience with another DBMS, Cluster, Oracle RAC,
replication a plus * Solid skills with one or more programming
language and design technique * Ability to communicate clearly on the
telephone and via email
