MS SQL Server Architect and DBA
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS): * Architecture and
Design * Configure, tune and maintain SQL Server database servers *
Mentor developers and end-users * Ensure 24x7 database availability,
reliability and security * Day-to-day operational activities such as
break/fix, space management, backup and restore, replication
management, performance monitoring and tuning Transact SQL and
database engines * Monitor and adapt data network design for current
and future operations * Provides high level technical assistance to IT
staff for all SQL Server endeavors while assisting in the maintenance
and operation of LAN, WAN, mid-range server, and applications. *
Develops do***entation to sup****t ongoing operation, maintenance, and
specific problem resolution. * Monitor and adapts data network design
and implementation for current and future operations. * Lead the
successful completion of SQL Server projects and tasks and provide in-
house training for SQL Server network and applications. * Works with
developers and end-users to improve their ability to utilize system
capabilities, determines problems and develops appropriate solutions
to those problems. * Works with and co-ordinates appropriate IS staff
to implement solutions which will meet or exceed customer
expectations. * Co-ordinates users, internal IS resources and external
vendors as needed on application and hardware upgrades or
installations. * Works with the QA department to develop and implement
test plans and assists with application hardware and system testing as
needed. * Responds accordingly to re****ts of trouble as presented by
the Customer Sup****t Desk (CSD).
* Perform additional tasks as directed.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Education, experience and skills MINIMUM
Bachelor degree in a related area Over 5 years of experience in the
field or in a related area. Experienced with DTS, and Transact SQL
Experience with high availability technologies, including clustering
Experience auditing database and security configurations Management/
Leader****p skills to manage multiple projects and people Excellent
verbal and written communication skills for both technical and non-
technical audiences Work well with other technicians. Understanding of
computer systems security issues
