SOFTWARE ENGINEER II
Job Description Performs analysis, coding, debugging, testing and
do***entation of software requirements. Develops functional detailed
design requirements for moderately complex programs and modules with
several submodules and interfaces or operating scenarios and
definitions. Participates in and may be responsible for the
preliminary design including but not limited to theoretical
calculations, memory usage control, computer time management and
closely related engineering programming work, under the guidance of a
higher level software engineer. May perform technical lead and/or
supervisory functions for small tasks. Prepares and participates in
design and code walk throughs. Provides planning and status inputs to
the Cost Account Manager for tasks performed. May perform Cost Account
Manager function for small tasks. Participates in preparation of
formal re****ts such as; test plans, test procedures, test re****ts, and
proposals as required. Participates in computer, software and
subcontractor selection. Acts as a vendor contact on small/sub-system
projects. Participates in hardware/software integration (HSI). May
assist in field installation and sell-off to customer. Participates in
Requirements Analysis. Practices Total Quality principles and
concepts. Required Skills
Ability to proficiently code, test and debug in several higher order
and assembly languages. Detailed knowledge of Software development
processes and procedures. Mathematical modeling and algorithm
development. Personal computer skills. (e.g., word processing,
spreadsheet, presentation graphics). Management Information System .
Cost Account Management Operation. Military Standard MIL-STD-498
(Software Development and Do***entation). Effective written and oral
communication skills. Demonstrated detail design skills. Proficiently
use computer based software tools such as; symbol dictionaries,
symbolic debuggers, etc. Ability to apply logical or scientific
thinking to a wide range intellectual and practical problems. Ability
to deal with nonverbal symbolism. (e.g., formulas, scientific
equations, graphs). Effective ability to organize and prioritize
assigned tasks.
Required Experience
Typically requires a minimum of three years of software engineering
experience with a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering,
Math or Science, or equivalent education.
