Title: Database Administrator

POSITION PURPOSE: The Database Administrator Position is responsible
for the effective design, architecture, and operation of enterprise
wide databases. RESPONSIBILITIES: * The candidate will be leveraging
Microsoft SQL Server, related re****ting and tuning tools. In addition,
the candidate will be responsible for identifying innovative
approaches to achieving top performance in a rapid application
development environment while maintaining overall database reliability
and integrity. * Sup****t databases as a DBA including creating
databases, administrating security. * Trouble shooting, capacity
planning and performing maintenance. * Provide sup****t to application
developers in designing and implementing physical database structures.
* Monitor server and database performance and health. * Use DBCC
procedures to monitor the health of databases, tables and indexes. *
Perform database migrations to different SDLC regions. * Provide
technical sup****t for middleware and administration tools. *
Participate in the transfer of knowledge and the education of staff
relating to any technical areas of expertise. * Participate in the
selection of appropriate database software and hardware products. *
Maintain database integrity of all production and in house databases.
* Creation, rotation, integrity of related database backups based on
the business needs by having thorough knowledge of the database
software recovery mechanisms. * Maintain user connectivity and
meanwhile provide security to protect company's data. * Assist with
identifying performance bottlenecks (OS, Network, Database), tuning of
Both SQL statements and tuning of the RDBMS software, and have the
knowledge to recommend optimal Performance recommendations. * Resolve
and troubleshoot database issues, oversee and perform upgrades,
conversions and deployments. * Utilize monitoring and administration
tools to maintain constant health and performance SLAs. * Respond to
occasional requests from Production to resolve any database related
customer issues. * Be able to configure and tune MS-SQL Server on
Windows 2000, Windows 2003 for maximum uptime and performance. * Be
able to tune and load-balance clustered SQL Servers. * Write, debug
and unit test stored procedures and triggers. * Establish and Maintain
sound backup and recovery policies. * Implement and maintain database
security replication, SQL Clustering, Stand by server, DTS, Log
****pping, SQL Mail. * Monitors relational databases to optimize
database performance, resource use, and physical implementations of
databases; addresses a variety of database integration issues
including migration between disparate databases, integration,
maintenance/conversion, capacity planning issues, and new
applications. * Monitors and maintains database security and database
software, in cooperation with data security administrators. * Creates,
procures and maintains various database related do***ents such as
manuals and programmers handbooks. * Maintains currency of knowledge
with respect to relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/
or systems. * Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Job Related Experience: * Microsoft SQL
Server DBA certification since at least 2004. * 5+ years of
experience, installing, configuring, tuning and troubleshooting MS SQL
Server, most of which is in a high volume, high availability
production environment. * SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005. * Five
years of MS SQL Server sup****t in a financial services environment
required. * Five years of SQL Server performance tuning required. *
Database troubleshooting and failure resolution experience required. *
Highly experienced architecting, setting up and administering MS SQL
Server. * 2+ years running MS SQL Server in an MS Cluster environment.
* Excellent written and communication skills. * Proven ability to
script solutions as well as a strong knowledge of the GUI
administration tools to manage change control and monitoring of the
systems. * Proven experience designing and implementing solutions to
ensure database availability and recoverability. * Proven architecture
skills in designing database environments for various business needs
(e.g., high-availability, failover, replication, disaster-recovery).
Can independently install, setup and configure SQL Server 2000 and SQL
Server 2005 for optimal service and availability. * Significant life-
cycle database administration sup****t including database design,
database development, testing, deployment, and maintenance. * Strong
database modeling and design skills. * Strong experience with data
dictionary and database scripting, SQL development, unit testing, and
systems administration on Microsoft. * Heavy Database Optimization and
Performance Tuning experience. * Computer programming skills in at
least one of the following: C#, C++, Perl. * Work well with users,
software engineers, and managers. * Reviews, develops, and designs
data models using standard diagramming techniques, in conjunction with
application development teams; creates logical data models and
translates into physical database structures that integrate with
existing or proposed database structures.
