CONTROLLER – FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT
We are seeking an experienced Accountant/Controller to work directly with
the principals of the organization to provide a strategic interface to
ensure the organizations financial performance, and growth for the future.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to oversee all accounting
functions/ operations, identify problems, and perform special auditing
projects, while actively directing and implementing ways to improve,
streamline and automate the current accounting procedures.
Responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing all phases of the accounting functions (A/R, A/P, Labor
Billings Cashflow,Forecasting, Etc), including authorizing and
administering accounting methods and procedures.
- Supervising accounting staff.
- Developing a strategic plan to monitor the firm's financial results
against internal and external benchmarks. Preparing Monthly Financial
Forecasts.
- Coordinating with the Principals in ongoing effort with Project Managers
to control project financial related activities including current and
timely project fee billings and collections, project direct expense
recording, allocation and reimbursement, project financial feasibility
studies and analysis, and calculation and review of budgeted versus actual
time and dollars for project profitability control.
- Preparing monthly calculations of work in process.
- Continually audits accounts and records.
- Monitoring the firm's overhead expenditures on a quarterly basis and
re****ts steps taken to maintain them at a level required for effective
operations.
- Monitoring the firm's cash position to ensure debt is minimized through
timely billings,collections and cost control.
- Assisting the Administrator in the preparation of the annual application
for the firm's professional liability insurance.
- Preparing cash flow summary for the upcoming 12 months, reviewed and
audited quarterly;
- Establi****ng, coordinates, prepares and monitors operating budget, with
an audit and analysis at six months.
- Coordinating funding for acquisitions of new investments and monitors
the cash position of existing investments to ensure that distributions are
made on a timely basis.
- Preparing period-end and year-end financial statements, and develops a
written summary of major variances from the plan and op****tunities for
improvement.
- Compiling, interprets and presents information to Principals to help
define and measure firm's Fiscal Year End plan of action.
- Interfacing with outside CPA firm in preparation of cor****ate tax
returns.
Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting or equivalent, with CPA/MBA desired.
- 5+ years professional experience
- Excellent written and oral communication and supervisory skills.
- Experience with Quickbooks, Integrated accounting/project management
software, advanced Excel and Microsoft Office Suites.
- Previous experience as a Financial Manager/Controller with a
Engineering, Architectural, Environmental or Legal firm.
