As a Senior System Administrator, you are expected to provide
direction and be completely responsible for the uptime and maintenance
of an extremely visible platform for a really large audience. This
role will gain a lot of recognition and will be an integral part of
really state of the art initiative in the enterprise.
Extremely im****tant that this person be in the Bay-area and relatively
close to Menlo Park, CA. The person should be able to get onsite in
case of emergencies (hopefully very infrequent). This person needs to
be connected to the net most of the time, extremely responsive to
email, available via IM/Phonem responsive to tickets and community
conversations.
We need a person who is a self-starter and can get things done and
problems solved with little or no supervision.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
** Operate as the primary Solaris 10 system administrator and
application configuration expert
** Keep the system up and running
** Diagnose and fix failures, both Software and Hardware
** Define a disaster recovery strategy and aid in implementing it
** Eliminate or reduce network related, response time related and
other issues
** Sup****t both project and on-going sup****t/maintenance activities
related to the application system
** Create, modify and enhance system do***entation, architectural
descriptions.
** Share best practices and provide innovative ideas for a scalable
and reliable system
** Assist in the development of testing, training development/sup****t,
and launch plans as required to aid in delivery of a quality platform,
designed for user acceptance and adoption
QUALIFICATIONS
** Over 5 years of hands-on experience with Solaris administration
with at significant experience on Solaris 10
** Experience in maintaining and configuring large scale applications
** Experience working in a task-oriented environment by where project
management practices and disciplines are the key method towards job
execution.
** Superior self-motivation, leader****p, integrity and interpersonal
skills required.
** Excellent computer skills and knowledge of tools and utilities
** 4 yr. Bachelor's degree or equivalent
** Certification in Solaris 10 System Administration - a BIG plus
** Experience with Oracle is a plus
** Experience with Zeus and Appgate is a plus
