Our client a financial firm is seeking a UDB DB2 Data Warehousing
Engineer in its Baltimore area office
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Knowledge of Kimball, Date and Codd data warehousing principles.
* Candidate must have at least 8+ years of database warehousing
experience on DB2 DWE including version 8 or higher.
* Candidate must have strong analytical and problem solving skills. *
Candidate must have full life-cycle experience as a database
administrator experience with production preparedness is a must.
* Experience with production sup****t in high volume data warehouses is
must experience with high volume databases with partition data is
required.
* Strong design and database architecture skills are required an
understanding of relational model is required strong verbal and
written communication skills are required.
* Candidate must be able to work independently and be self-motivated
candidate must be able to work with development and operations teams
in a consultant role.
* Experience working with unix servers is required with aix preferred.
* Experience with batch processing applications is required.
* Candidate must possess safe and reliable trans****tation.
* Candidate must possess home computer and internet access.
* Candidate must be capable performing 24x7 sup****t.
* Experience with DB2 object-relational extensions knowledge of DB2
replication strategies experience in information architecture is
strongly desired, but not required experience with group facilitation,
or leading design sessions is desired
* Other duties as assigned.
SPECIFIC BUSINESS KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
* Bachelor's degree with 5 years experience, associates degree with 8
years experience.
* 5+ years as an DB2 UDB administrator, on the AIX platform for
enterprise class production systems.
* Experience in sup****ting large mission critical databases.
* Experience in providing 24x7 production sup****t.
* Ability to install and configure a DB2 DWE system to established
specifications.
* Knowledge of proper DB2 security practices and procedures.
* Understanding of the basic components of a client/server
environment.
* Demonstrated experience in operating system and/or database system
management.
* Demonstrated experience using Telnet, FTP, SFTP, SSH, SCP, RCP.
* Demonstrated experience in managing database systems in a 24x7
environment.
* Demonstrated experience in storage technologies and techniques,
including Raid, and Fibre-channel.
* Demonstrated experience in designing, developing, and managing
backup and recovery systems for multiple database environments.
* Demonstrated experience in networking principles, as applied to the
operating system environment.
* Experience in operating system performance monitoring and tuning.
* Experience in developing scripts for production environment, to be
used in sup****ting operating system management activities.
* Experience with database installation and upgrades, including
planning, testing and migration activities.
* DB2 system certifications, as well as DB2 DWE performance and tuning
certifications.
* Strong unix scripting.
* Strong aix or sun experience.
* Knowledge of TCP/IP configuration and management.
* Experience using TSM/AIX for system backup and restore.
* Understanding of system factors affecting database application
performance.
* Demonstrated understanding of networking performance issues and
requirements.
* Demonstrated skill programming in Korn Shell and related Unix
utilities.
* Standard PC skills are required to sup****t the above tasks.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Bachelor's Degree, computer science
understanding of securities industry processing requirements
desirable.
* Administration experience with the ibm/aix platforms.
* Administration experience with the linux platform.
* Experience with peoplesoft.
* Experience with network appliance storage technology.
* Experience with IBM TSM.
* Experience installing and troubleshooting autosys.
* Experience with authoring korn shell and/or perl scripts.
