MySQL Database Administrator
* Ensuring databases are properly architected, maintained, operated,
and sup****ted * Establi****ng, managing, and adhering to operational
guidelines, standards, processes, and procedures * Sup****ting database
environments * Providing consultation for internal development groups
in the design and development of large databases * Identifying,
evaluating, and recommending new technologies for the RDBMS
environment * Setting up a fault-tolerant environment * Interfacing
with key systems * Installing database software and related products
to sup****t release/production environments * Developing physical data
models from logical designs * Defining storage, query, and index
strategies that assure quick and reliable query results * Defining
backup and recovery strategies * Developing policies and procedures
for maintaining the database environments after implementation *
Developing, implementing, and administering database guidelines,
programs, and systems within functional areas * Overseeing and
ensuring systems and facilities are maintained
Desired Experience
* 5+ years related work experience * Experience with MySQL Server *
Experience working in Linux environments * Experience as a Database
Administrator sup****ting high-availability production databases *
Experience monitoring and administrating database systems * Experience
automating, maintaining, and debugging code and scripts in Bash, Perl,
PHP, or SQL * Experience with InnoDB and MyISAM storage engines *
Experience with MySQL backup best practices (Maatkit, mysqldump,
innodbhotcopy) * Experience with Mysqlbinlog, mysqldumpslow, and
mysqladmin * Experience troubleshooting, configuring, and resolving
issues with MySQL Replication * Experience within a Change Control
environment * Knowledge of hardware requirements for sup****ting
database systems * Ability to use Veritas Cluster services to stop/
start MySQL instances * Bachelors degree in Computer Science *
Experience with SQL 2000 or 2005 is a plus
