University has an opening for a full-time position for an LGBTQ specialist
in its college mental health service, commencing August 15, 2008. The
position entails consultation to the campus community. We are interested
in finding a mental health professional who has skills as a generalist but
who is also well versed in dealing with ***ual minority issues and can help
build bridges between our counseling service and the LGBTQ Community
Resources office as well as other student affairs departments. The
position entails spending four days per week on the Main Campus (in the
Georgetown section of Wa****ngton, DC), and one day per week at Georgetown
Law Center (a separate campus near the US Capitol). The Law Center
placement is more focused on *****sment and referral and, if there is
sufficient interest, groups. There is a limited amount of after-hours
on-call service.
Required: Doctorate in psychology (or related field) or an MSW, and
license or eligibility for same in the District of Columbia, plus
demonstrated experience in the area of ***ual minority issues (lesbian,
gay, bi***ual, questioning, and transgender concerns.) Previous college
mental health experience is desirable. We are looking for someone who
shows flexibility to adapt to changing work demands, comfort with a
fast-paced environment, a strong work-ethic, a congenial and collaborative
working style, a readiness to address multicultural issues, and a strong
