Business Unit currently has an opening for a Mechanical Engineer with
graduate level research experience in the field of material science at the
Naval Research Laboratory in Wa****ngton, DC. This is a broad based
scientific research position that applies and develops advanced
engineering principles to the study of material behavior under various
stimuli and conditions The candidate should be able to demonstrate
capability (directly through published research work or through indirect
research activities sup****ted by his academic and/or professional
advisors/supervisors) to accomplish the following tasks: Develop methods
for the whole field automated and remote sensing experimental
determination of physical state variables (i.e. strain fields) and
parameters, as a function of temperature and other environmental stimuli.
Demonstrate ability of generating algorithmic and computer 3-D modeling of
experimental results to fit theoretical models and vice versa. Develop and
implement innovative methods of testing material systems. Develop and
implement data acquisition schemes capable of addressing the ****fting
goals related to materials characterization on various time-scales,
including real time. Demonstrate expert at computational modeling and
evaluations of theoretical models needed to test their relevance to
associated and experimentally ac***ulated data.
Education: Post Doctorate, strongly preferred, but will consider other
combinations of specialized experience and applicable advanced degree
effort which demonstrates at least six years of appropriate research
excellence (as described above) in lieu of doctoral degree.
