A vacancy exists for a new position in a well established development
team. The role will include both software and hardware responsibilities
and would suit someone with experience from the set top box industry.
The role will include interfacing to other companies and clients
outside of the company. Hence clear communication skills and the
ability to analyse other company's solutions is essential. The
following gives greater detail of the ideal candidate.
Responsibilities
Re****ting to the CTO the successful candidate will have
responsibilities including:
=B7 Developing embedded hardware solutions using a range of
programmable devices including DSPs, Streaming Media Processors and
FPGAs.
=B7 Writing software to interface to tasks supplied by other companies
and to generate signals using fast D to A convertors.
=B7 Working with other companies to develop and integrate solutions
into their software and hardware platforms. These will include STB
manufacturers, chip manufacturers, conditional access and CE
manufacturers.
=B7 Re****ting and do***enting solutions both for internal and external
consumption.
=B7 Appreciation of the business drivers for the solutions under
development and interfacing with business development.
Ideal Experience
The ideal candidate would have successfully delivered several of the
following:
=B7 Embedded solutions using Linux, VxWorks or projects in an RTOS
environment.
=B7 C, C++ and low level code.
=B7 Projects involving TI DSPs, ST Microelectronics, Broadcom, Conexant
or other Streaming Media Devices.
=B7 Projects involving STBs, DVD and recording devices.
=B7 Digital and analogue video projects.
=B7 Working with other companies at an engineering level.
=B7 Presentations of work and reasoned arguments for solutions.
Personal Attributes
=B7 A degree or equivalent in engineering preferably with a higher
degree.
=B7 A self starter with a pro-active rather than reactive approach to
work.
=B7 Ability to communicate clearly at all levels with excellent
interpersonal skills.
=B7 Ability to work in a team environment to get jobs done.
=B7 Ability to work to deadlines.
=B7 Ability to produce clear, concise do***entation, write re****ts and
make presentations.

=B7 Willing to undertake reasonable travel worldwide.
