Project Specialist - PLC
Our customer is currently seeking an Electrical or Mechanical
Technologist with a specialization in robotics, automation and
controls to join their Engineering/Maintenance group. The company is
an international well established manufacturing facility producing
specialized components used in heavy trucks. The facility is located
in Southwestern Ontario.
AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Develop and maintain electrical standards. Design, procure and
install robust control systems to ensure reliability and
maintainability. Provide ongoing diagnostic sup****t to production and
maintenance personnel. Audit existing systems to avoid obsolescence,
minimize spare parts and provide continuous improvement to
initiatives. Manage all aspects of improvement projects and
participate on teams for large capital projects.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Coordinate design, procurement or manufacture, and installation of
plant equipment as assigned. Machine controls design abilities from
concept to shop floor installation.
2. Establish criteria for successful project completion based on
original business objectives.
3. Involve end-users for ideas and communicate project progress.
4. Lead new equipment commissioning teams for both Operations and
Maintenance personnel.
5. Ensure projects proceed in a timely and cost efficient manner.
6. Supervise commissioning and evaluate finished projects against
success criteria.
7. Develop and evaluate continuous improvement proposals.
8. Assist the Maintenance department in the diagnosis of equipment
failures, and reliability issues.
9. Assist in the development of specifications for new and existing
equipment.
10. Develop PM procedures for new equipment in conjunction with the PM
Coordinator.
11. Assist in the development of reliability centered maintenance
programs for new and existing equipment.
12. Assist in the completed of safety improvement initiatives/projects
as assigned.
13. Ensure projects meet all objectives for productivity, quality and
safety.
QUALIFICATIONS
=95 Minimum 3 year diploma in a robotics and automation
=95 3 =96 5 years experience in industrial control system or machinery/
tooling design with a close collaboration with maintenance and
operations personnel.
=95 Demonstrated project management skills.
=95 Strong background in industrial control systems.
=95 Programming experience with Allen Bradley PLC=92s. PLC5 series
minimum.
=95 Strong background in Allen Bradley RSView HMI development.
=95 ABB robot programming S3 and greater an asset.
=95 Commitment to a self-managed and team-based organization.
=95 Good leader****p and systems troubleshooting skills.
=95 Excellent working knowledge of production machinery, equipment and
control technology.
=95 Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, and
Project) as well as AutoCAD V14/2000.
=95 Working knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act
with respect to machine design and guarding, as well as the Pre-Start
Health and Safety Review process.
This is a full-time permanent position. The pay is commensurate with
education, work experience and over-all fit within the organization.
