Our Client designs and manufactures special purpose machinery to cost-
effectively solve the world's most difficult waste reduction and
recycling problems. The company is recognized globally for its first
class product as well as a continual program of engineering innovation
and quality.
Their fields of specialization include systems for tire shredding,
waste processing, product recovery/destruction, computer and
electronic hardware recycling, plastics reduction, paper shredding,
metals recycling and mobile do***ent destruction systems.
They are currently looking to ad a Product Development Engineer to
their Engineering Team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategy:
=95 Execute Product Development projects to achieve goals and objectives
as set forth by the Product Development committee.
=95 Provide input to the development of product strategy.
=95 Implement Product Development and Engineering Standards consistent
with company objectives.
Product:
=95 Assist in developing project plans, budgets and schedules that are
achievable and satisfy business requirements.
=95 Manage assigned Product Development projects and provide weekly
status re****ts to ensure achievement of defined objectives:
deliverables, timing, budgets.
=95 Provide detailed analyses of components, assemblies and systems.
=95 Prepare engineering do***entation, drawings, BOM=92s, ECN=92s and
product manuals.
Team:
=95 Mentors peers.
=95 Responsible for supervision of assigned projects.
=95 Provide technical sup****t to other departments as required.
=95 Promote an open learning and knowledge sharing environment.
Process:
=95 Ensures adherence to New Product Development process and PD/
Engineering procedures.
Financial:
=95 Manage development activities within assigned budget.
=95 Do***ent SRED activities and ensure they are filed accurately and on-
time.
=95 Propose cost improvement op****tunities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Mechanical Engineer OR P. Eng. Eligible
Experience: 5-10 years of design and project management in custom
equipment, metal fabrication, system assembly and testing.
Specific Skill Ability and Knowledge:
=95 Thorough understanding of DFM/DFA and GD&T
=95 Experience in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, COSMOS, MS Access, MS Project,
MathCad (or similar) and ERP/MRP systems.
=95 Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
=95 Experience in mechanical design =96 gear, drive and hydraulic design
an asset.
=95 Excellent analytical abilities with a strong materials background.
=95 Strong project management skills =96 planning, organizing problem
solving & decision-making.
=95 Demonstrates professional communication skills in dealing with
customers, suppliers and business partners.
