op****tunity in Burlington, IA for a Lead Engineer-Projects
Position Summary Responsible for planning, directing, and
implementing large engineering projects in a safe and
environmentally conscious manner, in order to maintain and
improve competitive position and profitability. Responsible for:
project cost/benefit analysis; initiating permit process;
engineering project management consisting of: developing detailed
design and work packages; supervising architect/engineers,
consultants, and construction craft labor; managing cost and
schedule; coordinating equipment start-up and performance
testing; negotiating contract close-out. Job Functions Directs,
leads, and drives the development, planning, scheduling,
coordinating, and implementation of activities for large
engineering projects in sup****t of generating station objectives.
Interfaces with other GENCO engineering groups, environmental
specialists, controllers, buyers, and plant management to ensure
that engineering project activities align with GENCO/plant/unit
financial and operating goals. Demonstrates leader****p in the
area of safety. This requires an in depth understanding of
Company and OSHA safety rules and practices, encouraging safe
work behaviors, and promptly correcting conditions, and unsafe
behaviors which may lead to accidents and personnel injury.
Assists with the identification, and development of innovative
methods for improving project management processes and
techniques. Drives for continuous improvement in all processes.
Assists with the management of or participates on project teams
to deliver engineering services and projects on time and on
budget to the satisfaction of the GENCO customer. Maintains a
sound working relation****p with engineering consultants,
contractors, and equipment manufacturer's representatives to the
application of their services and products. Verifies the
benefits and cost savings resulting from completed engineering
projects. Directs and supervises contractors involved in
performing large construction project work. Monitors performance
and conformance to all contractual and specification
requirements. Enforces OSHA and company safety rules. Assists in
GENCO budgeting process; analyzing facility level projects and
activities. Assists with the establishment and application of
cor****ate and GENCO values in the compliance to all
environmental, safety and other laws and regulations. Develops
strategies and plans for implementing large engineering projects
in sup****t of reliable and efficient plant operation. Assists
with the preparation of the necessary do***entation for obtaining
authorization and permits from regulatory agencies for generating
station projects and testifies at public hearings. Keeps
informed of electric generating station state-of-the-art
technology and equipment. Assists with the facilitation,
coordination, and implementation of generating station
programmatic initiatives and user group activities for the
fleetwide standardization of technology and operating practices
and procedures. Promotes and sup****ts diversity initiatives and
