Construction Specialist, Mason City, IA, Location: Mason City,

Received: Performs work under the general supervision of an
Energy Delivery Operations Manager or Manager - Engineering
Resources. Supervision Given: Supervises the work of
professional and sup****t staff engaged in engineering detail,
field, clerical and related work. Position
Summary/Accountabilities: Plans, schedules, assigns and reviews
the work of the individuals supervised. Performs various
engineering detail (and field) work ensuring work orders are
complete and the job site meets all requirements. Responsible for
selecting the most cost effective project design, which
incor****ates construction standards. Serves as the primary
customer contact and company spokesperson for residential and
small commercial customers for new or changes to existing
electric and/or gas services. Job Functions: Responsible for
the day-to-day management of the field design and engineering
personnel as assigned. Responsibility includes managing field
engineering performance in the sup****t of operations, maintenance
and construction design/engineering activities for area assigned.
Areas of focus include standardization of work practices, use of
technology and work quality issues. Works independently or with
limited supervision within established policies, procedures and
standards, performs the following engineering detail or
associated tasks, both in the office and in the field. Works
with hourly and salaried supervisors in scheduling work for
others including field design personnel. Plans and schedules
field engineering personnel across business processes within
their assigned area. Plans, details, prepare estimates for work
orders, prepare and closes work orders; prepares materials lists,
tickets and transfers, customer contributions and charges.
Provides job mentoring for field design personnel. Performs a
variety of field work, including locating and sizing services,
customer load determination, staking, survey work of moderate
difficulty; works with local government and prepares and obtains
distribution easements as assigned; makes field checks and
inventories; gathers and prepares information for various
permits, licenses and joint use applications. Performs a
variety of functions to track and do***ent worked performed to
sup****t business processes. Work includes creating customer
information and work activities requested/performed in the work
management system, GIS/Mapping System, CIS and other systems.
Responsible for the accuracy and quality of information generated
for each work activity. Obtains information from engineering
prints and prepares necessary maps and sketches. Ensures
quality of product produced by reviewing work of field
engineering personnel for area of responsibility as needed. This
includes ensuring the processes are followed, the work is
designed according to standards and the work is correctly
do***ented in the appropriate systems. Prepares maintenance
work sheets, accident re****ts and claim forms. Interacts with
Zone Managers and Resource Manager to identify technical and work
resource requirements for all processes.
