Energy currently has an opening for a Designer in Dubuque, IA.
Position Title - Designer Supervision Received Performs work
under the general supervision of a Manager or Team Leader in
Engineering. Supervision Given None. Position
Summary/Accountabilities Assists in providing technical sup****t
and design on engineering projects. Assists in performing field
investigations and gathering information and data. Job Functions
Assists in providing technical sup****t and design on engineering
projects using electrical material and construction standards.
This includes such activities as developing bills of materials,
assembling design packages for construction projects, and
preparing projects for closure. Coordinates as-built drawings and
records. Assists in performing field investigations and
gathering information and data. Assists in maintaining computer
aided drafting and design system file records ensuring accuracy.
Prepares cost estimates for budgets and customer charges.
Assists in preparing and closing project work orders. Assists in
surveying projects or reviewing survey do***ents ensuring
accuracy. Performs other duties and responsibilities as
assigned. Physical & Environmental Requirements Physical
requirements include extended hours of driving, sitting for long
periods of time, speaking in front of people, grasping, reaching,
feeling, hearing, seeing, writing, finger dexterity, reading,
working with people, working around people and working alone.
Environmental requirements include working indoors and outdoors
for extended periods of time, some exposure to dirt, dust, oil,
etc. and exposure to electrical hazards. Technical/Job Skill
Qualifications The candidates must meet the following minimum
qualifications, and have demonstrated the following technical or
job skills: Education equivalent to an Associate in Science (AS)
degree from an accredited college or technical institute.
Working knowledge of computer aided drafting and design (CADD)
systems. Basic knowledge of electric material and construction
standards. Ability to apply mathematical principles to the job.
Ability to understand and interpret land surveys. Working
knowledge of applicable codes and regulations. Basic knowledge
of electric utility system operations, maintenance and
construction practices. Knowledge of electric theory. Ability
to work effectively in a diverse environment. Performance Skills
Candidates must have demonstrated the following performance
skills: Attention to Detail: Able to be alert in a high-risk
environment; follow detailed procedures and ensure accuracy in
do***entation and data; carefully monitor gauges, instruments, or
processes; concentrate on routine work details and organize and
maintain a system or records. Decision Making and Problem
Solving: Able to take action in solving problems while exhibiting
judgment and a realistic understanding of issues; able to use
reason, even when dealing with emotional topics; review facts and
weigh options. Policies, Process, & Procedures: Able to act in
accordance with established guidelines; follow standard
procedures in crisis situation; communicate and enfor
