Programmer Responsibilities The Tools Engineer - System Performance
primary responsibility is to develop and maintain VZW national and
regional directional Perl/Java Script based re****ting tools in order
to monitor network elements and performance metrics.
Including: * Generate daily, monthly and ad-hoc performance re****ts as
required by design, performance and management teams utilizing Perl,
Java Script. Oracle and other programming languages. * Collect and
analyze hourly and daily service measurement data to optimize and
improve network performance by creating and maintaining scripts in
Perl and/or Java. * Sup****t peer System Performance and RF Engineers
in evaluating and improving areas of poor coverage by developing tools
to identify system performance problems (dropped calls, static,
interference). * Map creation for network optimization, planning and
conducting special engineering studies. * Build new cell site
translations and parameters in sup****t of regional cell site and
switching initiatives. * Provide leader****p to regional software tool
development by engaging local, area and national engineering teams to
identify performance tool requirements and standards. * Participate in
national software tool development initiative by attending meetings,
conference calls and providing leader****p direction when required. *
Work closely with national data center system administrators to ensure
software tool compliance and availability. * Monitor and advise
management to tool platform requirements and capacity guidelines.
Qualifications Required Qualifications: * Strong application/
programming competency in Perl, Java Script, Oracle and UNIX shell
scripting. * Knowledge of MS Excel, MS Access, Visual Basic, SQL,
Oracle and database management. * BS Computer Science/Information
Systems or Electrical Engineering. * Strong technical and analytical
skills. * Strong knowledge of information systems concepts. * 2+ years
of experience in the cellular or telecommunications industry.
General understanding of one or more of the following platforms and/or
technologies: System Performance including: MapInfo mbx programming,
RF System Optimization techniques for voice and data. - System Design
including: AMPS, CDMA, 3G - Voice and 1xEV-DO.
* Test equipment including: DataPro, DTI, Comarco and Spectrum
Analyzers. * Ability to demonstrate good interpersonal, and
communication skills. * Ability to demonstrate decision making skills
by making recommendations that aid in the successful completion of
projects within a product or functional area. * Ability to demonstrate
leader****p skills by acting independently to seek problem resolution;
committing to excellence; and demonstrating company values and
policies. * Ability to demonstrate flexibility by adjusting to a
dynamic, changing business environment. * Ability to demonstrate
organizational and planning skills. * Ability to demonstrate good
communications skills verbally and in writing, in a clear and concise
manner. * Ability to work flexible hours and sup****t night or weekend
work as needed. * Overnight travel may be required. * Drivers license
and good driving record is required.
