Mandatory:
* At least 10 years experience in system development;
* At least 5 years experience as a developer in an MVS/COBOL/DB2
environment;
* Ability to understand and analyze business requirements, and to
design structured programs that efficiently satisfy these
requirements;
* Ability to write programs that are modular, well-structured, and
easy to maintain;
* Demonstrated success in working productively with business
clients, developer peers, and technical specialists such as architects
and DBAs;
* Excellent oral and written communication skills; demonstrated
success writing system design and implementation do***ents;
* Experience with, and understanding of, relational databases.
Desirables:
* Experience developing or maintaining large scale IT systems,
including high-volume batch programs;
* Experience with public sector IT systems;
* Experience with IT systems for enrolment or registration;
* Experience with point-in-time (timestamp-based) data
architectures.
Responsibilities:
* Analyze business requirements and determine specific changes
required to the system/program;
* Participate in Business Requirement walkthroughs;
* Do***ent specific changes to be made to the system/program
(deliverables: Systems Response and Technical Specifications
do***ents);
* Design program/system changes (deliverables: design do***ent;
design models);
* Make program changes to accommodate design (environment: IBM
Mainframe =96 COBOL and DB2, occasional IMS);
* Conduct/participate in design walkthroughs;
* Conduct/participate in testing walkthroughs;
* Sup****t testing of the changes by others;
* May be assigned to sup****t other initiatives.
