Test Engineer
To verify the design of new products are safe and effective and meet
the requirements set forth by the functional specifications for the
device. Verifications include tests on electrical components, software
components, mechanical components, and the long-term reliability of
these aspects of the design. Also, tests may be concentrated to the
areas of biocompatibility, sterilization and the packaging of the
product.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: =95 Coordination of testing new products,
components and designs. =95 Writes a test protocol to outline to
individual tests to be completed. =95 Maintains a strong relation****p
with the design team throughout the entire design process. =95
Understands the functional specifications of various devices, as well
as the intended use of the device. =95 Designs tests to fully measure
requirements listed in the functional specifications, including
automated test fixtures to execute tests. =95 Develops software and
electrical design to create automated test fixtures for data
collection. =95 Abiding by all restrictions and guidelines set forth by
the Quality System Regulation (QSR). =95 Develops tests using latest
technology that are more accurate, more time-efficient, and more cost-
effective than previous tests. =95 Coordinates in-house testing with
outsourced test firms. =95 May involve the supervision and evaluation of
a subordinate Test Engineer. =95 May be responsible for coordinating
offsite training for subordinates. Qualifications/Work Experience
QUALIFICATIONS: =95 0-3 years of test engineering experience, or
equivalent. =95 Bachelor=92s degree (B.S.) in Mechanical/ Biomechanical
Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering. =95
Master=92s degree (M.S.) preferred. =95 Excellent analytical skills. =95
Effective interpersonal communication skills. =95 Demonstrated ability
to operate small hand tools (e.g. pliers, screwdrivers, hammer,
wrenches, etc.), power tools and test/inspection equipment. =95
Demonstrated mechanical/electrical problem solving skills. =95 Sedentary
work: Exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally and/or a
negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry,
etc. Generally involves sitting most of the time. =95 Must have the
ability to work with and assemble small objects and component parts. =95
Ability to operate common office equipment (e.g. calculator, PC,
telephone, etc.) and common measuring devices. =95 Must have good visual
acuity and demonstrate fine motor skills. =95 Must be able to observe
and correct minute inconsistencies (e.g. in the printed word, product
appearance, etc.). =95 Must be able to generate, follow and explain
detailed instructions and design parameters. =95 Must be able to
complete detailed do***entation accurately. =95 Must be able to analyze
and correct complex test designs.
