Catalysis/Laboratory positions available in CT

by Bridget <HarringtonMail@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Aug 20, 2008 at 12:38 PM

Precision Combustion, Inc. (http://www.precision-combustion.com)
is a
leading developer and manufacturer of enabling catalytic products and
technologies for the chemical, energy, aerospace, fossil fuel
production and trans****tation industries. We are currently seeking
candidates for the following positions:

Senior Catalyst Scientist/Engineer
--------------------------------------------------
Are you looking for a role that includes the op****tunity to show
personal leader****p, vision, a goal-oriented long term outlook,
program management skills and your talent in product development? We
are seeking an experienced Senior Catalyst Scientist/Engineer with
excellent, hands-on R&D skills, to develop catalysts and catalyst
sup****t for our products and to direct catalyst development programs.
The successful candidate will be a key member of PCI=92s technical team
and personally and integrally involved in all aspects of technology
development.

The ideal candidate will have experience in heterogeneous catalyst
materials and coatings development and application, as well as a
thorough knowledge of catalyst fundamentals, significant experience
in
PGM catalyst development and high temperature catalyst applications.
You should have the ability to integrate such development into
reactor
designs and expertise in catalyst selection a must; chemical reactor
engineering skill would be very helpful. Experience with successful
catalyst R&D and new technology commercialization, proposal
preparation, product plan development and execution, and customer
contact necessary. Knowledge of short contact time catalysts,
catalytic combustion, gas turbines, engines or new pollution control
technology is not necessary, although it would be an asset to the
position. You will be refining our current catalysts as well as
developing new ones. The ability to manage technical staff focused in
the area of catalyst development, write proposals, obtain funding and
maintain budgets is essential. Must be results-oriented team player
with skill to work well with other company senior technical staff,
management and customers. Managerially, you should be a strong mentor
and motivator, inclusive, creative and decisive with a good sense of
humor.

This position requires a Ph.D. in Chemistry and/or Chemical
Engineering with appropriate background in laboratory preparation,
characterization and testing of catalysts and industrial experience.
Alternately, we will consider a MS level candidate with 10+ years
relevant industry experience in heterogeneous catalyst development
and
application.

Senior Chemical Technician
-----------------------------------------
Are you looking for a laboratory-based position that allows hands-on
exposure to product development, as well as an op****tunity to
interact
with all aspects of a small business? This position requires a person
who is able to work independently with minimal supervision. The
successful candidate will be given a series of test matrices for the
development of catalyst materials. Information garnered from these
test matrices will define processing parameters for a commercially
viable product and will eventually be used for all products. This
person will be expected to execute all phases of the sample
preparation test matrix including catalyst and sup****t formulation,
substrate preparation, coating application, microscopic inspection
and
BET analysis. In addition, this person will be responsible for
gathering and summarizing all pertinent test data (including activity
test data of samples that are carried through to that level of
testing) for presentation to senior research staff. This person will
also assist with small-scale production for PCI products and
prototypes, maintain a laboratory notebook and take part in daily
laboratory maintenance.

The position requires a BS in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or an
AS with experience in an industrial lab setting. The successful
candidate will have strong organizational skills, as they will be
evaluating several test matrices at a time, good hands-on and problem
solving skills and mechanical aptitude. Requisite skills include
basic
chemistry knowledge with the ability to produce samples given target
mole percent, weight percent, or molar ratios. Initially, this person
will be conducting directed research, but the ability to think
independently will allow further growth into independent research.
The
ability and interest in keeping informed with technical literature
would be helpful. Good oral communication skills, a working command
of MS Office (Word, Excel) and the ability to work in a team
environment are necessary.

Senior Combustion Engineer
------------------------------------------
This is the ideal position for a thought leader who enjoys growing
prototypes into production. We are seeking an experienced combustion
engineer with a strong theoretical background and demonstrated
expertise in the development and commercialization of both novel and
practical gas turbine combustion systems. Solid mastery of
thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, chemical kinetics and heat and mass
transfer is a must. Expertise in catalysis, reaction engineering and
computational modeling is also desired.

We are primarily interested in hiring a person that is focused on
product development in sup****t of commercialization. The successful
candidate will possess excellent leader****p, interpersonal,
presentation and program management skills and be highly motivated to
succeed. This is an ideal position for a former professor or military
engineer, as he/she will encounter both within the position. A
graduate degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering and/or the
Physical Sciences is required.
