Oracle Data Base Administrator
Job Description
Perform standard Oracle database administration and Unix system
administration tasks for Oracle versions 8 =96 10 and Linux based
operating systems.
Monitor server performance at both the OS and database level and
recommend modifications to improve performance. When approved, make
recommended modifications to improve performance.
Utilize existing and write new SQL scripts and use OEM tools to help
monitor the performance of the operating systems and databases.
Create new databases as required in Oracle 10g and perform data im****ts
\data pumps to populate the database.
Analyze and solve problems with tablespace and other Oracle key
parameters to effectively tune databases for optimum performance.
Test backup & recovery procedures for Oracle databases and make
recommendations to improve the procedures.
Utilize troubleshooting skill to effectively isolate database problems
and implement solutions to solve them.
Analyze the results of Information Assurance Vulnerability *****sment
Tests and make determinations as to the risk involved and methods for
mitigating the risk.
Conduct, monitor, troubleshoot and improve performance for im****t
processes and replication. =B7 Implement and maintain database security
(create and maintain users and roles, assign privileges) per current
DISA STIGs.
Interface with Oracle Cor****ation for technical sup****t.
Experience in code migration, database change management and data
management through the various stages of the development life cycle
Possess sound communication skills with management, development teams,
vendors and systems administrators in order to perform general
technical trouble shooting and give consultation to development teams
Experience in a virtualized environment using VMWare
Analyze existing Oracle databases, estimate growth based on existing
historical information and make recommendations to plan for growth
which may include identifying hardware, table modifications and
archiving functions to ensure that databases are properly sized to
sup****t today=92s requirement and to be in position for anticipated
requirements.
Required Skills
8 years experience working daily with Oracle database operation,
administration, performance tuning and troubleshooting. Experience
with at least Oracle 9i and 10g. Ideally have experience from Oracle
version 8 through 10. Be proficient with HPUX version 10 and 11
operating systems. Be proficient with Windows and Linux based
operating systems. Candidate must demonstrate a strong, professional
work ethic. The candidate must demonstrate successful leader****p and
customer service skills. The candidate must have strong oral and
written communication skills.
