This position provides Enterprise Application, Information and Data
Architectures in the delivery and improvement of information services to
sup****t the Ministry. The focus is on providing accessible quality
Enterprise level Architectures to sup****t the business architectures
through planning, analysis, organization, control, and security. Under
the
direction of the Planning and Re****ting manager, the Solutions Architect
is
the recognized expert in Enterprise information, data and applications
integration requirements. This position develops, maintains and
communicates IT best practices, standards definition, enterprise
application and data architectures and provides expertise relating to
integration services to sup****t complex and integrated systems and
department information requirements. The Solutions Architect represents
the Ministry on Government Enterprise Architecture committees and is
responsible for ensuring that the Enterprise Application and Information
&
Data Architecture assets of the Ministry are always up to date, and align
with the Business Architectures. The successful candidate will have
strong
technical and communication skills for effectively resolving applications
and information related issues and challenges.
In general, key aspects of the role are:
• Evolve, model and do***ent the AF ITS Solution Architecture,
standards and best practices.
• Act as advisor and mentor for all branches and project teams
relating to the AF ITS Solution Architecture, standards and best
practices
• Provide oversight and input to development teams, relating to
Architecture
• Assist development teams by providing ongoing reviews to
ensure
that standards and guidelines are being followed and that risks have been
understood and appropriately mitigated.
• Ensure that the ongoing migration to ICT services in
particular, architectural decisions made in sup****t of technology
solutions are aligned and integrated with AF ITS Solution Architecture,
standards and best practices.
• Determining alternatives to in-house developed items
• Work in partner****p with business areas and Business Analysts
to ensure that there is a transition from design to development.
• Assist with the development of principles, standards,
guidelines on the proper use and deployment of various standard AF
technologies and create appropriate do***entation.
• Provide technical guidance, leader****p, coaching and mentoring
to senior analysts and developers in the ITS organization.
• Identify other architectural issues and recommendations to
improve our solution systems environment. This includes current design
patterns, component development and identification of common services,
and
the sup****tability and maintainability of solutions.
• Where necessary, continued enhancement and implementation of
the existing frameworks in concert with the application development as
well as identifying and implementing third party software to achieve the
same function with lower in-house development and sup****t costs.
Desired:
• Reviewing new services and technology requests by clients and
*****sing their impact on the operational environment, giving
recommendations to ensure a successful and secure implementation
• Determination of hardware, software, infrastructure, data or
technical requirements
• Assistance in developing project plans, schedules, and
estimates pertaining to architectural deployment and services delivery.
Assisting in developing task lists and resource assignments within the
context of Architectural planning and deployments
• Do***enting technical recommendations, providing technical
advice and guidance to management, operations and project team members
and
within shared IT services
• Experience in modeling methodologies and tools
• Making recommendations to project managers pertaining to
issues, risks and client satisfaction
