Our Halifax client needs a skilled Technical Architect is to provide
architectural guidance to various projects in the organization. The
position will identify, evaluate and recommend technical solutions
within and across systems. The architect must also be able to design
solutions within the context on the available infrastructure, taking
into account scalability, availability, reliability, stability,
security and performance.
The role is within a dynamic business unit requiring flexibility,
attention to detail and the ability to work in a team environment
across geographically dispersed locations.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Technical Expectations:
1) Provides technical direction for the development, design, and
systems integration for projects from definition phase through
implementation
2) Identify and evaluation technologies used in various projects.
3) Identify and leverage/promote technologies across projects
4) Recommend the technical solutions for integrating various software
technologies to satisfy business and technical requirements
5) Clearly present technical issues with their pros/cons and
communicate the architectural decisions to other groups
6) Working closely with other technical and operational groups
7) Extensive knowledge of J2EE technologies
8) Hands on experience with J2EE application servers (WebSphere,
WebLogic, Tomcat)
9) Solid understanding of middleware and databases
10) Experience with debugging and tuning J2EE applications
11) Hands on experience with J2EE development and IDE=92s
12) Working knowledge of transaction management, thread pooling and
connection pooling
13) Experience with software development and methodologies (RUP)
14) Experience with designing highly available, scalable enterprise
systems
15) Knowledge of XML, JMX, Hibernate, PMI. Java Persistence API=92s
16) Working knowledge of network infrastructure, capacity planning and
performance testing
17) Familiarity in working on NT and Unix operating systems
18) Experience with Oracle and Sybase a plus
Qualifications:
Bachelors=92 degree or equivalent experience. Any certifications a
plus.
7+ years architecting, designing and developing J2EE applications
Knowledge of financial industry desirable
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel,
PowerPoint)
Knowledge of Microsoft NT/95/2000/XP, UNIX, basic networking
