Position Purpose
o Ensure that all services which have satisfied the criteria for
production
status are available to all authorized users, and that acceptable
performance levels are met or exceeded at all times.
o Manage IT infrastructure operations.
Major Responsibilities
Manage performance and capacity
- Ensure that adequate capacity is available and that best and optimal use
is made of it to meet required performance needs.
Ensure data confidentiality
-Safeguard information against unauthorized use, disclosure or
modification,
damage or loss.
Educate and train users
-Users are making effective use of technology and are aware of the risks
and
responsibilities involved.
Assist and advise customers
- Any problems experienced by users are appropriately resolved.
Manage problems and incidents
- Problems and incidents are resolved and the cause investigated to
prevent
any recurrence.
Manage data
- Data remains complete, accurate and valid during its input, update and
storage.
Manage operations
-Im****tant service and sup****t functions are performed regularly and in an
orderly fa****on.
Monitor processes
-The achievement of the performance objectives set for operations
processes.
Manage data centre facilities
- A suitable physical surrounding which protects the IT equipment against
man-made and natural hazards
Obtain independent assurance
-To increase confidence and trust among the organization, customers, and
third-party providers.

Competencies (Skills/Qualifications/Experience)
o A university degree in computer science or engineering
o 8+ years experience in Information Technology with focus on management
of
computer operations, networking and systems administration
o Knowledge of IT services and sup****t operations in a Cisco, Solaris,
Oracle, EMC environment
o 8+ years experience with managing, recruiting, coaching and motivating
senior staff members
o Demonstrated ability to lead, plan, manage, implement, organize and
problem solve
o Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a highly dynamic
environment
o Ability to actively promote a culture of cooperation between different
IT
teams
o High customer service orientation
o Good judgement is essential, as are sound communication and negotiation
skills
