Mammography Technologist

Job Summary		Performs associated clerical duties and performs
mammography exams. Responsible for the performance of various x-ray
procedures following set protocols, sequence preferences and format
preferences when required. Ensures all quality assurance checks and
standards are run as required.  Participates in all quality assurance
programs and ensures company and Ministry of Health guidelines are
followed.


Education/Training	CAMRT registered with CAMRT certification or
provincial equivalent, if applicable.  Current CPR certificate. For
sites with OBSP (Ontario Breast Screening Program) must have completed
or willing to enrol in specific OBSP training.  Must be enrolled in or
have completed Mammo I and Mammo II courses.


Experience			1 - 2 years related experience.  Good command of the
English language, excellent communication, organizational and
interpersonal skills are required.


Supervised by	Charge or Chief Technologist in consultation with
Radiologist.


Supervision Given		May be required to show others how to perform
routine job tasks.


Cost Control  				Follows set procedures.


Effort 					Normal physical effort. Assistance may be required to
position patients.  Work flow varies.  Requires periods of
concentrated effort.


Working Conditions		Diagnostic imaging environment.  May require
varying ****fts.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.Preparation
		Responsible for processing patient and ensuring that all-pertinent
information is do***ented on the requisition.  Ensuring that the
Radiologist has all necessary previous films before interpretation of
the case.  Responsible for ensuring that the proper views are obtained
and patient history is complete for interpretation of the case.
Ensures that all STAT or unusual cases are read immediately and that
the referring physician is informed of results immediately.
Responsible for ensuring that patient exam is carried out in a manner,
which ensures that the patient=92s welfare and privacy is respected.

2.Performance of X-ray Procedures
=95	General radiography
=95	Mammography exams
=95	Fluoroscopy

3.Quality Control
		Ensures (and monitors) all quality control *****sments are performed
as required.  Responsible for all QC testing on mammography unit and
processor.

4.Equipment Maintenance
		Observes and re****ts all malfunctions in Mammography equipment.
Follows manufacturer's guidelines for operation, maintenance and minor
trouble-shooting.  Maintains all required logbooks for routine
Mammography equipment maintenance. Responsible for ensuring the
cleanliness of the x-ray equipment and x-ray room.

5.Re****ting
		Signs all required do***entation. Responsible for ensuring all
abnormal and urgent cases are handled as outlined in departmental
guidelines.

6.Safety
		Cleans, tidies and disinfects X-ray equipment and change rooms.
Ensures log books are maintained and all fire and safety regulations
are followed.  Follows established health and safety procedures.

7.Regulations
		Complies with all Company and Government Regulations.  Maintains
continuing CAMRT registration and medical educational requirements
necessary for ongoing CAMRT certification.

8.Other
		Under direction of the Charge or designate, assists other staff
members when workload is completed.  Perform other duties as assigned.
