TECHNICIAN III

Technician III-VI - #3955 <br> The successful candidate will work
with scientists and engineers in designing, assembling,
installing, maintaining, and conducting experiments for the
development of a solid state laser. The candidate will
participate in all phases of the laser development process from
small scale experiments through technology transfer of the system
into various platforms such as ground vehicles and aircraft.
Participation will involve the operation, testing, data
collection, debugging, component handling and system maintenance
of complex laboratory and test equipment including pneumatic and
fluid systems, heat transfer equipment, and electrical and
optical diagnostics equipment. Limited travel to remote locations
may be required to participate in field demonstrations of the
laser systems.<br> <br> Excellent laboratory skills related to
the setup, do***entation, and operation of electro-optical and
laser systems are required. Additional responsibilities will
include ordering test, opto-mechanical, laser equipment, hardware
and supplies. The candidate will work with scientists and
engineers to provide inputs and develop assembly procedures for
precision engineering optical and laser components.<br> <br>
Other qualities necessary for successful job performance will
include excellent written communication skills to record and
re****t experimental data, the ability to troubleshoot and
diagnose problems in test and research equipment/systems, and a
sense of detail for providing inputs on detailed budgets, cost
breakdowns and schedules.<br>

Typically requires a High school diploma or Associate's degree or
equivalent. May substitute equivalent experience in the field. To
be successful a minimum experience of two years and an
Associate's degree in electro-optics or related degree and five
years relevant experience in the field is highly preferred.
Additional experience in the field may be considered as a
substitute for academic proficiency. The position requires basic
knowledge of optical and laser systems and related hardware, the
ability to construct optical, electronic and mechanical systems
in the development of electrical, thermal, and laser technology
and the ability to communicate effectively with team members and
the scientific user community. The position will require a
willingness to adjust working hours in accordance with the
schedules and needs of the Photonics Division. The ability to
