Oracle and Sybase Database Administrator
Roles and Responsibilities for this position require: =B7 To work in
close collaboration with other Oracle and Sybase database
administrators to inform and stay informed on changes in the
environments, issues, etc.
=B7 To provide sup****t to development teams and application sup****t
teams. To participate in early stage projects, help with data modeling
and database design if needed to ensure optimum performances of their
SQL queries.
=B7 To perform databases rollouts across environments in a controlled
way,
=B7 To install, administer, migrate, monitor and tune Oracle & Sybase
databases as well as to troubleshoot problems in all the environments.
=B7 To work closely with Windows server team, Unix team, production
control team and application sup****t teams to coordinate
implementations and maintenance efforts
=B7 To respect and enforce standardization in the database
administration area and maintain good do***entation. =B7 Working hours
would be 08 :30 - 17:30 with some weekends planned for maintenance
and disaster/recovery exercises.
=B7 Participate in the "on call" duty to sup****t all Oracle, Sybase
production databases and PowerCenter jobs.
Background expected for this role will be a proven track record of 4
years at least as an Oracle & Sybase database administrator in a
production environment, providing sup****t to the developers and fluent
in English.
Professional Qualifications / Personal Qualities :
He will share responsibilities with other administrators for databases
based in Geneva and San Antonio and used across the world.
Technical Skills: Required =B7 Sybase 12.x installation, administration,
tuning, monitoring and troubleshooting on Unix platforms including
Sybase replication. =B7 Oracle 8i and Oracle 9i database modeling,
installation, administration, tuning, monitoring and troubleshooting on
Windows 2000 and Unix platforms including replication. =B7 SQL, korn
shell languages. =B7 Windows 2000 and Unix knowledge: batch programming,
operating system
Desired =B7 Perl, awk and sed languages. Apache web server. =B7 Possibly
PowerCenter or similar ETL tool administration. =B7 Knowledge of
financial systems is a plus
Soft Skills: Required =B7 Production environment experience and its
constraints. Ability to work under stress and on multiple tasks
simultaneously. =B7 Ability to work independently as well as in a team,
strong team player. =B7 Good communication. He will share information
with other database administrators based in Geneva, London and US, with
development teams based in Geneva and London. =B7 Flexibility in
approach is an im****tant aspect as the associate would be very hands on
with sup****t issues on a daily basis in a growing and changing
environment while still maintaining focus on project work. =B7 Open
minded to acquire new technologies. =B7 Fluent in English =B7 Good
organization skills =B7 Strong interpersonal skills and ability to grasp
users problems =B7 The position may also necessitate to travel between
sites in London & USA
Desired =B7 Fluent in French.
