JOB DESCRIPTION:Purpose Of Job:
Technology Infrastructure is responsible for company-wide technology
architecture and platforms, managing core computing facilities,
datacenters,
telecommunications and networks in sup****t of all it's businesses and
customers around the globe. The TI group engineers, installs, operates and
maintains a significant ****tion of the company's infrastructure, and a
further significant ****tion is engineered and managed by the
infrastructure
group but provided through service contracts. This group is also
responsible
for enterprise services such as email and security.
Technology Architecture is responsible for the specification and
governance
of the company's technology architecture. This includes specifying
company-wide core technologies and services; providing forward-thinking
research and leader****p on information technology; and guiding the use of
IT
to ensure quality.
Major Activities:
This role re****ts to the Enterprise Architecture Officer for Global
Operations and Finance Technology and will work closely with the diverse
technology team as well as other architecture Strategic Business Units to
sup****t small, medium to large scale initiatives.
The role will work with Technology LOB's (lines of business) to architect,
design, review or recommend solutions that are consistent with the
company's
Applications Architecture and the specific application road maps in the
LOBs.
This role will specifically:
.. Assist/Create or review Application Road Maps
.. Assist/Create or review Candidate Architectures
.. Evaluate new solutions/technologies
.. Be a conduit between the LOBs and Enterprise Architecture
.. On an assignment basis, particapate in project execution and
operational/sup****t issues
.. Ensure consistency between LOB solutions
Promote and encourage the use of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) in a
way that is consistent with the EA application road map and the
application
road map(s) for the group
The position requires a broad understanding of technology and technology
products to deliver solutions that are consistent with the company's.and
group's architectures.
Responsibilities:
Working in a team environment the candidate will:
.. Lead, participate or review Candidate Architecture processes for the
group's
projects.
.. Ensure projects are consistent with enterprise architecture direction.
.. Participate in the development of LOB road maps so that they are
consistent within our enterprise architecture and group's direction.
.. Assist in the review of options and proposals regarding technology
solutions and make recommendations regarding the technical impact
including
effectiveness, feasibility, security impact, effort, and long term
maintainability.
.. Participate and recommend process and/or development improvements on an
assignment basis.
.. Coach / mentor junior staff with the LOB's
Requirements: This position demands a mix of skills across a variety of
Technology disciplines:
Architecture and Design:
-Working knowledge of Architecture View approach to architecture; business
view, application view, services view, integration view and technology
view.
-Significant experience in the architecture, design and development of
large-scale systems across multiple hardware and software platforms.
-Ability to translate non-technical and business requirements into
technical
solution requirements and serve as a bridge between the Business/Product
and
Technology teams.
-Knowledge and experience in messaging technologies.
-Knowledge and experience in architecture and design in J2EE environment
for
one or more application servers (BEA Weblogic, IBM WebSphere)
-Extensive working knowledge of object-oriented analysis and design,
design
patterns, UML.
-Knowledge and understanding of B2B integration, SOA and web services,
including WSDL, SOAP, UDDI.
-Knowledge of XML and XML standards, DTD, XML Schema.
-Hands-on experience with one or more modeling tools (RSA, Rational Rose,
Together).
Technology Experience: A broad experience in design and development of
technology solutions, on a variety of platforms such as Solaris, Windows,
OS/390, etc.
Software Tools: Awareness or experience with a variety of software tools,
platforms and products such as J2EE, Weblogic Srerve, MQ, Informatica,
Oracle, CONGOS, Essbase, Actuate, SQL Server, etc or similar products
would
be an asset.
Software Evaluation Process: Have some experience with evaluating packed
software vendor tools and solutions - nice to have.
Business Background: A basic understanding of one or more of these
businesses would be an asset: Securities Processing, Payment Processing,
Call Centre, Back Office Operations.
